Laurie Scott is the MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock and Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure. She was born and raised in Kinmount, and has been elected to represent the central Ontario riding of Haliburton – Kawartha Lakes –Brock five times since 2003.

Laurie was inspired to enter public service by her late father, Bill Scott, who served as MP for Victoria-Haliburton for 38 years, and was appointed to the Queen’s Privy Council in recognition of his long and dedicated career of public service.

Laurie has been a tireless advocate for victims of human sex trafficking in Ontario, both inside and outside of the Legislature. She has received national awards for her work on combatting human trafficking and child advocacy. She is passionate about encouraging women to get actively involved in public life.

For fifteen years, Laurie has been a strong advocate for issues facing rural Ontario. Last fall, she passed legislation to protect rural fire halls and promote public safety in small communities by ending the unfair persecution of double hatters. She has also made key labour reforms that have spurred job creation across the province.
