Joe Conte
Senior Counsel

Joe Conte is Senior Counsel at Pallett Valo LLP and heads its Business Law Practice. He is also a member of the firm’s Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring Practice Group.
Joe has over twenty years of experience as a lawyer in Ontario and, prior to joining Pallet Valo, spent 15 years as in-house Canadian counsel and senior executive in the Canadian commercial finance industry for well-known international companies such as Textron, GE and Deutsche Bank.
During his diverse and generalist career, Joe has had significant experience and exposure to commercial finance, debtor/creditor matters, secured transactions and insolvency law, aviation finance, technology transfers, employment law, general corporate and commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, administrative law, regulatory compliance matters, competition law, intellectual property law and litigation management in all jurisdictions across Canada.
As a former director and officer of large Canadian corporations, he has also shown sound business management and leadership skills in the areas of contract negotiation and drafting, strategic and organizational planning, organizational development, policy setting and employee mentoring and has become known as someone who can apply practical business solutions to complex commercial matters.

Andy Balaura is a member of the firm's Labour and Employment Practice as well as the
Privacy Law Group.
Practice
Andy practices exclusively in the area of management-side Labour and Employment
Law. He advises corporate clients on a wide range of human resource issues, including employee discipline and discharge, employment and consulting contracts, workplace investigations, collective agreement administration, obligations of departing employees,
and the statutory obligations of employers pursuant to the Employment Standards Act and Ontario Human Rights Code. He has presented seminars, training programs, and
papers on a variety of employment law topics.
Andy has appeared as litigation counsel before the Ontario Courts on wrongfuldismissal matters, injunctive proceedings, and occupational health and safety
prosecutions. He has represented employer clients before the Ontario Labour Relations
Board, Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. Andy is also active as a member of the Board of Directors of several not-forprofit organizations.

Her expertise includes advising companies on corporate reorganizations, as well as estate planning strategies. Sandy has negotiated with the CRA on clients’ behalves to resolve sensitive taxation issues regarding voluntary disclosures.
