Mississauga Board of Trade, in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a discussion with Metrolinx on how to fund The Big Move.
This is your chance to provide input on how YOU think we should pay for transportation infrastructure in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
You are invited to take part in an exclusive discussion with
Metrolinx President & CEO Bruce McCuaig
.
Transportation and traffic congestion is deemed to be an issue of top concern to business in Mississauga – it is costly to business, workers, our economy, quality of life, and to our environment.
We all agree we need to invest in transportation infrastructure and transit services. The question is, “How are we (as businesses and residents) going to pay for it?”
Approx. $2b/year in new revenues will be needed to fund Metrolinx’s “The Big Move” 25-year GTHA transportation plan.
Some ideas being strongly considered are: additional sales and gas taxes; tolls; non-residential parking levies. What revenue tools are on the table? What are the implications for your business and our community?
